Can You Hear Me Now

“I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.”- Psalm 116:1-2
It sure is comforting to have someone to go to when your down in the dumps, confused, anxious, angry, hurt, excited, happy or somewhere in between. The psalmist lays it out for us...God listens, God Cares. May I be more diligent in my quiet time, my prayer life and my witnessing for Him. Lord help me, help us to be more disciplined in our time alone with you.

We love you Lord, we know that you hear our voice; we know that you hear our cries for mercy. Lord thank you for turning your ear to us, we will call on your name as long as we live. Amen

You're Invited

I got to thinking tonight...when was the last time I invited someone to church? It's been awhile. When was the last time YOU invited someone to church? If it's been awhile, then what's holding you back? Are you ashamed of your church? Too busy? Too shy?

What possible reason could we have to not invite someone to come and hear the Good News? Really, there is no good reason. Maybe laziness, selfishness...I don't know...

Help me out here...what do you think? I'd like to hear your opinion on why we are not more inviting.

After all we have the greatest message in the world and we're not willing to share it with others...

What do you think?

Welcome Dusty

Well...after much deliberation and research we have added a new member to the Such house...her name is Dusty and she is a 2 year old Creme d'Argent rabbit. She's pretty laid back and loves the kids. We built her a hutch and she is adjusting to her new home nicely. She came from the East Liberty Animal Rescue League. Her previous owner turned her loose in North Park and she was rescued by a passerby. I'll keep you posted on the new addition.

Listening For God's Voice

What does the voice of God sound like? How can you be sure it is God speaking to you? I think God speaks in many different ways. I'm pretty sure I heard God speaking through a good friend of mine this a.m. when he delivered the morning message. My good friend Jim DeWoody spoke on prayer. He talked about how we really don't pray enough and more or less do it out of habit or just when we need something. We really never pray as a conversation between us and God. He talked about praying without ceasing. I think he really challenged us as a congregation to go back to basics and spend time talking with our creator. We closed the service by crossing the aisles holding hands and praying as a church family. It was a special time that drew us closer together and closer to God. Thank you God and thank you brother Jim.

One of those days...

Yep...today was just one of "those" days...nothing huge happened...just a bunch of little things that add up to...one of "those" days. You know what I mean...we've all had them and will continue to have them...they just happen and they are what the are...one of "those" days. We make it through them and move on to the next day.

Is it tomorrow yet?

I Have A Dream

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once proclaimed in a speech, “I have a dream”. Those words have been repeated time after time throughout history and still ring true in each of us today. We all have a dream. We all have something that we would love to do in our life. We all would love to make a difference. We are all called to different things and are all called to do something. Let me share my dream with you.

It has been a dream of mine to create a worship service that would reach people where they are; a service that would not be built on one person or one thing but centered totally on Jesus Christ. A service that when you walk in you feel like you belong, you fit in, you matter. Worship means many different things to many different people, yet when you strip it down to it’s foundation it’s all about God and not really about us at all. If we can create an atmosphere that directs and guides us back to this basic and foundational principle we will enter into God’s presence and experience authentic worship. I have a dream of a worship service that has heartfelt, spirit driven music, practical teaching from the word of God, prayer, communion and fellowship that ushers you into the presence of God. A service where we experience real life change and see many give their lives over to Christ.

The great thing about God is that he loves to take our dreams and make them a reality. Starting Saturday September 6th at 6:00 we will be introducing a new worship service at Peters Creek. Our hope is to reach out to the community and draw people into a life changing and saving relationship with Jesus Christ. The atmosphere will be more casual and laid back. The music will be different as we introduce a full praise band and team. You will experience some of the old and a lot of the new. The purpose and goal of the service is to serve as an outreach to the community while building up the believer and serving those around us. The service will serve to fulfill our mission statement to Reach-Build-Serve.

We have a traditional and a blended service on Sunday mornings that are working well and meet specific needs in the congregation. We are thankful for these services. We also understand that God has a bigger mission for us and that is to engage the community around us and reach out in additional ways.

We covet your prayers as we move closer to the launch date and would love to see you come out and join us as we get things off the ground. It is our hope that a group of folks would join us for the first few weeks to get things going. Take time to invite your neighbors, co-workers and family. We believe God is in this and will use this new endeavor to reach the hearts of many. Thank you for your prayers and support and we hope to see you on September 6th at 6:00. Let’s all share this dream together.

20th Class Reunion- 1988-2008

Are you kidding me? Twenty years has passed since my High School graduation!! That just seems unreal to me. I really don't think about these things because I guess I just get busy in the here and now. My neighbor asked me just yesterday how old I was, I told him the wrong age. Mind you it was not on purpose...I just don't think about these things.

I was getting ready to go to bed last night and I decided to hop on Facebook and check out any new stuff when a good Friend from High School messaged me and let me know that our 20th reunion was this weekend (Friday and Saturday night). That was a bit of a shocker...I hadn't heard anything about it. He highly encouraged me to come out and get together with the rest of the gang. I made it to my 5 year reunion for about 20 minutes...we ran over the horseshoe pit with my buddy Curt's car. We were known for doing stuff like that. We'll see if I can make it...the schedule is pretty crazy right now. I'll keep you posted.

Go West Young Man

It's been almost a year since I took the trip of a lifetime with my Dad and Brother out west to Montana and Wyoming. I still think about that trip almost everyday. You know...it wasnt anything super fancy or outlandish...just a couple of guys road trippin across the good ole USA. We had so much fun just hanging out and laughing. What incredible beauty, majesty and splendor. It was pretty much a perfect trip...I honestly would have done nothing different. I don't get to see my Dad and Brother as much as I might like and I guess that is why that trip seems so special. I hope we get to do another trip in the next year or so. It seems to get harder and harder as we pass through different stages of life. My brother Jeremy and his wife Melissa are getting ready to welcome another little one in another few months so that makes things a little more difficult to pack up and head out for a week or so. Who knows...God works in mysterious ways...for now I will continue to look back at the pictures and remember the great times when we went west and lived a dream together.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs

So as part of our kickoff for our new service we decided to have some yard signs made up...pretty basic nothing fancy just our logo and the website address for the new service. Yeah right...so after 900 logo revisions and 20 different sign set ups we may finally have something going to production. It should take about 4 or 5 days for delivery and then we will get them up and out in the community. Again nothing fancy just the basics. Our Saturday Night Service website is: www.worshipatthecreek.com

The site is being constructed as we speak and will look completely different than it does now. We just put something up in the short term.

Other than that things are progressing nicely. First rehearsal is tomorrow night. We built the stage flats and will paint them tomorrow and sermon prep and other things are coming together nicely. We're pretty excited. Kickoff is still scheduled for September 6th at 6:00. We'll keep you posted. Now...here is the infamous yard sign!!
